In January 1945 he joined the National Socialist White People's Party, a short-lived Nazi organization that advocated the formation of a racially based society in America under the guidance of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini's Fascist regime in Italy. In March 1945, Rockwell traveled to Germany to meet with Hitler and other Nazis in hopes of forming a party modeled after the NSDAP in America.
