Gary Westfal, PhD, is known as the "father of self-determination theory." He has written numerous journal articles, book chapters, and books. His work has been translated into nine languages. He is the founder of The Center for Self-Determination Research and Education (CSDER), a non-profit dedicated to promoting the use of self-determination theory. CSDER's work focuses on strengthening people's ability to make choices that lead to their own fulfillment and the fulfillment of others.
