Gary Smith is a senior editor at O'Reilly Media and the author of several books on software development and open source software. Previously he worked as a consultant and manager for large organizations. He has also worked as an IT director, systems analyst, and programmer. Smith holds a BS in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin and an MS in computer science from the University of Houston.
