Caesar's plans for further conquests in Asia were frustrated by the defeat at Pharsalus. He sought to conquer Parthia but was again defeated by Mithridates VI of Pontus, who proceeded to invade Rome in 48 BC. Caesar fled to Egypt, where he sought support from Mark Antony.
