After graduating high school, he moved to Las Vegas where he was employed at Harrah's Casino for over twenty years. In 1985 he began writing poetry and plays. In 1996, Thomas became a published author with his play, "The Burning Dreams," which was performed at the International Black Theatre Festival in Las Vegas.
"The Burning Dreams" was one of ten plays selected from more than five hundred that were submitted by playwrights from around the world. It has since been published in a book entitled "The Burning Dreams." Thomas is a member of a board of directors for The American Indian Writers' Workshop in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has been a guest speaker there many times. He is also a member of The National Writers Union and The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA).
Thomas has traveled extensively throughout the United States and visited many countries including Canada, England, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Portugal. He has visited many places in Africa including South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania.
