E.M. Tippets is a native Southern Californian and a retired U.S. Army officer. His military career took him to North Africa, Europe, and the Pacific during World War II
He was a reporter for the San Diego Evening Tribune from 1948 – 1953, and was one of the first reporters to arrive in Japan after the Hiroshima bombing in August 1945. He later wrote a novel based on his experiences as a journalist in those troubled times. In addition to his novel, he is the author of numerous short stories, essays, and poems that have been published in The American Magazine, The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, The New Yorker, The Saturday Evening Post, Southern Review, and other periodicals.
His novel A Door Into Ocean was released by Random House in 2010.
