Elena D. Calin was born in Bucharest, Romania, on January 24, 1943. She earned a BA degree in Archeology at the University of Bucharest in 1960. She wanted to become an archeologist since she was a child
Her first book was published in 1965. Since then she has written some forty books on Romanian history, archeology, art history and place names, both fiction and non-fiction. She has won numerous national and international awards for her books.
