Eleanor Powell is an American actress, dancer, and singer. She obtained critical acclaim in the musicals "Kiss Me, Kate" (1947), "Call Me Mister" (1949), and "Kismet" (1952) on Broadway. She also appeared in the films "The Band Wagon" (1953), "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" (1953), and "Easy to Wed" (1955). Powell made her Hollywood film debut in the 1954 musical comedy "Singin' in the Rain"
Her film career continued with two Elvis Presley movies, "Love Me Tender" (1956) and "Loving You" (1957). After her last major role in the Elvis Presley movie "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" (1966), she retired from acting. She was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
