Dhanush is an Indian film actor, producer and playback singer. He began his career as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam in Kadal (1996). His first leading role came in the 2000 thriller, Enthiran, which was a commercial success. Dhanush's breakthrough performance came in the Tamil film Pokkiri Raja (2004), for which he won the Vijay Award for Best Actor
Since then he has appeared in successful films including Thuppakki (2006), Bhargavam (2007), Sivaji (2007), Kaadhal Kondein (2008), Nanban (2009) and Iruvar (2010).
