He was president of Chase Manhattan Bank from 1972 to 1979. His brother Nelson was the chairman from 1979 to 1985. He also served as chairman of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund from 1979 to 2013.
Rockefeller is a recognized public speaker, has participated in many notable philanthropic initiatives, received eleven honorary degrees, is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, was a founder of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, is a member of the American Philosophical Society, and was inducted into the Junior Achievement U.S. Business Hall of Fame.
