David Gest was born in London in 1967. His father, Danny L., was from a Jewish family from Russia and his mother, Lynn, from a Mormon family from the United States. David was educated at a private school and later he attended Harrow School. In 1992, he became a member of pop group Wham! and soon after signed a solo recording contract with EMI records. During the late 1980s David signed up as a model for Pepsi and appeared on several television commercials as well as on magazine covers. In 1996 David had his first major role as the lead male in the film Flatliners directed by Kiefer Sutherland.
In 1999 David had a leading role in the film A Very Brady Sequel with then-girlfriend Victoria Beckham. David became famous for being George Michael's boyfriend and later for being famous for being famous – he has been referred to as "the most famous man in Britain".
