Born in 1967, David Chipperfield studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and completed his graduate studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. He established his own practice in London, working on a variety of projects including The Serpentine Galleries Pavilion and the Hayward Gallery extension. In 1999 he became the director of the RIBA Stirling Prize-winning competition-winning project for The National Museums of Scotland. Since 2000 he has been a principal at David Chipperfield Architects.
