David Brower was the most influential environmentalist of his time - perhaps in the history of the world. As the founder of Friends of the Earth, he was instrumental in establishing the modern environmental movement. A visionary whose goal was to "bring about a radical change in human consciousness," Brower founded Friends of the Earth in 1970, after being inspired by Rachel Carson's Silent Spring.
