Darlene Love is a songwriter and singer-songwriter who is best known as the lead vocalist for the 1960s Motown group The Temptations. Love was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 13, 1944. Her first two solo singles, "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" and "This Diamond Ring", were released in the early 1960s, but it wasn't until her third single, "A Little Bit of Soap" / "All I Need", that her career took off. She also recorded under the names Darlene and Darlene Love and released "I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore" and "Little Girl (You've Got What It Takes)" as a solo artist

Love has received numerous awards throughout her career, including a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Female for her performance of Temptation's "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" in 1965. In addition to her solo career, she often performs with her backup group The Dazzling Darlene's as well as with former Temptations members Dennis Edwards, Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin at select performances.
