Darin E. Lee was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. His first published work was a story entitled, "The Dog Who Loved Santa Claus" (published in the Wizard of Oz fanzine "Ozmosis" in 1977). He has written over thirty short stories and novellas, as well as eight novels, six of which have been nominated for both the Hugo and Nebula Awards
He has also penned three original screenplays; the first, "The Man Who Ate the World," premiered at the 1999 Los Angeles Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival. Others include: "The Man Who Walked Between the Towers," which won Best Feature at the 2003 New York City Independent Film Festival; and "Blindsided," which he co-wrote with award-winning playwright David Self and starred Richard Dreyfuss as well as Lainie Kazan.
