A three-time Olympic medalist, Dara Torres is the most successful female swimmer in American history. She won five Olympic gold medals, four silver, and one bronze, setting four world records and twenty-six American records on her way to becoming the first swimmer to win four gold medals in one Olympics. A world champion, Torres represented the United States at two consecutive Summer Olympics (2000 and 2004), where she earned a total of six medals (three gold, two silver, and one bronze). She was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1999.
