Cressida Cowell (born July 28, 1984) is an English writer of children's fiction and a former DJ at BBC Radio 1. Cowell's first book, How to Train Your Dragon, was published in 2005 to critical acclaim. Her second book, The Lightning Thief, was published in 2008 and has been adapted for TV as Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Other works include the "Magic School Bus" series and the Pigdog books.
