Claude M. Bristol began his career in radio, and he also wrote radio scripts for NBC Radio. He was one of the founding members of the National Broadcasting Company, serving as vice-president and general manager of its radio network. He was also a member of the board of governors of the Radio Corporation of America
He founded the Bristol Manuscript Corporation, which published several books on health, including The Truth About Cancer.
