Her other books include "The Stone Diaries," "The Stone Centre," "Trouble River," "In the Forest," "In My Father's Shadow," "In the Country," and her newest novel, "The Accidental Tourist." Carol Oates is a winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction and the Mystery Writers of America Grand Master Award for Lifetime Achievement.

In 1998 she received an award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in Literature for fiction, the highest honor bestowed by that organization upon a living writer in America.
