Camille Claudel was a French sculptor, painter, and architect who lived from 1864 to 1926. She was born in Cognac into a family of artists, which included her father, Charles-Auguste Claudel, her older brother, Charles-Édouard Claudel, and her younger brother, Auguste-Edmond Claudel. Camille was the fifth child of the six children. Camille began drawing at age twelve
Her father taught her how to sculpt. Camille's first sculpture was at age nineteen. Unfortunately she had no formal education in art or architecture.
