in 1873. He was appointed to the staff of the Melbourne Hospital in 1874, and became lecturer on Anatomy there in 1880. In 1884 he was appointed Professor of Anatomy at the University of Melbourne, a position he held for thirty-three years.

Scott published several important works, including "Works by Charles Scott" (1902), "Lectures on Scientific Subjects" (1906), and "The Human Brain" (1908). He died on February 7, 1919, and is buried in an unmarked grave at the Melbourne General Cemetery.
