Brian Clough was born in 1926 in the small town of Penistone, just a few miles from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. He was a football player and a manager before he became a writer. In his book, The Damned Utd Player, he wrote that he had never written anything before but was determined to write about his experiences as a manager at Leeds United Football Club. His first book was published in 1974 under the name Brian Clough, but over the years he had several pseudonyms used for his writing
He wrote five books, three novels and two non-fiction works.
