Billie Burke was the Hollywood actress and dancer who became a style icon of the 1930s and 1940s, and she is best remembered for her iconic role as the flapper in the movie classic "The Jazz Singer." She was born in Macon, Georgia, on January 8, 1895. She was an only child. After studying dance at the University of Georgia College of Agriculture, she went to work at a theater in Macon. She made her stage debut in 1916
