Bill Nye is an American science educator, TV host, mechanical engineer, comedian, author, and pop culture icon. He is best known for his popular show Bill Nye the Science Guy, which ran from 1993 to 1998. Nye produced the PBS Kids show The Electric Company from 1993 to 1997. Nye has also worked as a consultant for several science-oriented television programs, including the American versions of the British television series Lab Rats and Who Do You Think You Are? He was the CEO of The Planetary Society, an organization focused on space exploration and planetary exploration missions (including Mars rovers) between 1997 and 2015.
