Bill McCollum is the great-grandson of David McCollum, a master builder in the early 19th century. From 1875 to 1933, McCollum was an important player in the history of Charlotte. The city named this street after Bill when he was elected to the City Council in 1986. Bill has been involved in many facets of Charlotte's development, including being one of the original founders of the Bank of America in 1922
