Beatriz Colomina was born in Valencia, Spain. She earned her PhD in Culture and Communication from the University of Granada. Her first novel, "La fiesta de la primavera", won the 2011 Premio de la Crítica de Novela de Valencia for best first novel, and was nominated for the 2013 Premio Planeta de Novela. This book was translated into English by the author, and published by HarperCollins/Bloomsbury under the title "The Spring Party"
Her second novel, "La trama" ("The Plot"), has been shortlisted for 2017's Premio Planeta de Novela for best Spanish-language crime fiction.
