Ayyaz Ameer Mayo (Urdu: عیدا معیذ) (born 11 July, 1956) is a Pakistani poet, novelist, writer of fiction and non-fiction books. He is currently the editor of the literary journal "Kabir". Before becoming a full-time writer, he was an Islamic scholar at Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. Ayyaz started writing poems at the age of eleven or twelve years old. His first collection of poetry was published when he was seventeen years old.

During his school days he wrote essays on subjects ranging from social issues to love for nature. Ayyaz's love for nature prompted him to start traveling around Pakistan in 1974. From 1976 onwards he started writing travelogues about his travels throughout the country.

Ayyaz's first fiction book "Bulbulay" was published in 1981. The title "Bulbulay" refers to the name of a crow in Urdu language which is translated as "short song". This novel reflected his own love for nature and also his concern for preserving it.
Ayyaz's first book named Khaak-e-Ishq (Love Intoxication) was published in 1986.
