Arno Rafael Minkkinen was born in Finland in 1964. He has published several novels, including Lääkäri (Doctor) in Finland in 1992. "Lääkäri" has been translated into English by David Hingley under the title "Doctor" and was awarded the Finnish Independent Foreign Fiction Prize ("Kirjallisuuden palkinto"). Lääkäri was also shortlisted for the inaugural Finnish Literature Prize ("Kirjallisuuden palkinto")
