Arlo Guthrie was born in Cactus, Oklahoma in 1949. He is best known for his song "Alice's Restaurant," which became a hit single in 1969, and for his albums Alice's Restaurant, Troubadour, and Alice's Restaurant Too. Guthrie has been described by the New York Times as the "poet laureate of pop music" and as "the American troubadour." He was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1994 and into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2001. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.
