Anita Loos (July 13, 1891 – October 31, 1986) was an American writer and humorist. Her best-known work is Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1925), which was adapted for film in 1953. In her lifetime, she was known as a "soap opera queen" and a playwright, but her writing became better known after her death. Her daughter, Brooke Hayward, was a successful screenwriter who contributed to the screenplay of the 1956 musical comedy Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
