He is also a well-known writer, having written screenplays for programmes including The House of Eliott, Ashes to Ashes, The Duchess of Duke Street, The Body in Question, Spooks, Life on Mars, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister. He also wrote the screenplay for The Last King of Scotland.
