Anagarika Govinda (1897–1971) was an Indian monk who wrote on meditation, psychology, and philosophy. He was the first Westerner to introduce the practice of Vipassana into the West. He was also one of the founders of the Mahabodhi Society that helped bring about the rebuilding of the Buddhist Temple at Bodh Gaya after it was destroyed by Muslim invaders.
