Alexander R. Luria was one of the foremost scholars in the field of neuropsychology. He is best known for the Luria-Nebraska tests, which are widely used by psychologists and psychiatrists. The Luria-Nebraska tests are considered to be the "gold standard" in the diagnosis of schizophrenia, although they were never intended to be used in this way. The tests were named after Alexander Romanovich Luria, a Russian neuropsychiatrist who was one of their developers. Luria spent more than 20 years conducting research on the psychiatric disorders of children, including autism, schizophrenia, epilepsy, depression, cerebral palsy and learning disabilities
