Alex Trebek was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, on July 30, 1936. He graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1957, and has been a member of the television audience ever since. As host of the long-running TV game show "Jeopardy!," he is frequently called upon to weigh in on social issues and make public appearances; he is also a prolific author and photographer. Trebek's first book, The Official Jeopardy! Book, was published in 1999
His second, Pocket Watches: A Visual History of Timepieces (with Overlook Press), was published in 2004.
