Alberto Giacometti was born in 1906 in Cuneo, Italy. He is considered one of the most significant artists in 20th century art and has been called "the greatest sculptor of the century," and "the most important sculptor since Rodin." His work has been exhibited worldwide and can be found in many prominent public and private collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Guggenheim Museum, and National Gallery of Art.
