Pearl Harbor was an American naval base and naval air station in the Hawaiian Islands of Oahu, Hawaii, and is now a National Historic Landmark. It also served as the headquarters for the United States Pacific Fleet during World War II. The base is located on Ford Island in the Pearl Harbor Naval Base, which is formed by the confluence of Pearl and Arizona Islands in the northwest of Oahu. Before its decommissioning on 1 October 1994, Pearl Harbor was home to the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet of the United States Navy.
