But I can now understand why people read, why they like to get lost in somebody else's life. Sometimes I'll read a sentence and it will make me sit up, jolt me, because it is something that I have recently felt but never said out loud. I want to reach into the page and tell the characters that I understand them, that they're not alone, that I'm not alone, that it's ok to feel like this. And then the lunch bell rings, the book closes, and I'm plunged back into reality. . Cecelia Ahern
About This Quote

This quote is from the movie "Sliding Doors", in which Gwyneth Paltrow plays two different characters. One of the characters, Kate, has a husband who is cheating on her. The other character, Helen, has a husband who is cheating on her. In one scene, Kate invites Helen over to dinner to be her friend.

As they sit at dinner, Helen can see that Kate's husband is also cheating on her. She even sees him kiss another woman right in front of her! When she tells Kate about this, Kate says that it’s not possible because she hasn’t cheated on her husband yet. Helen then explains that if you’re going to cheat on someone, it’s better to do it before you get married, because then it won’t mean anything.

The reason being is that if you don’t have trust in your relationship when you get married, you will have trust issues when you get divorced.
