To enjoy and learn from what you read you must understand the meanings of the words a writer uses. You do yourself a grave disservice if you read around words you don’t know, or worse, merely guess at what they mean without bothering to look them up. For me, reading has always been not only a quest for pleasure and enlightenment but also a word-hunting expedition, a lexical safari. Charles Harrington Elster
About This Quote

This quote is very insightful. I picked this quote because I was about to read the book "Loving Someone With Borderline Personality Disorder" by Thomas W. Radecki Ph.D. This book was recommended by my friend, she thought it would be of interest to me since I have BPD myself. Reading around words can be dangerous, not only can you get confused but you may confuse yourself which means you may not understand the true meaning of what you are reading.I like this quote because it is easy to agree with the author's views on how important it is to read correctly, or else you may get confused and end up with a wrong impression of what is being written in the book.
