With the plundered people transferring their energies into relaxed and receptive thoughts, degradation and lust for power produced art.

Peter Weiss
About This Quote

A lot of people say that looting of the past is the the basis of all art. They say that every good work is born out of the looting of some great classical masterpiece. Now, this may be true in some cases, but it is not the only way art is born. Sometimes, if you loot something that has already been looted, you end up with nothing.

Everything has already been looted and nothing remains but an empty shell. The truth is, if you want to make art, you have to invent new things. This means taking what is already there and turning it on its ear.

It means getting rid of all those things that are deadening your creative energy and replacing them with vibrant ideas that will give birth to a new kind of art.
