Think it a vile habit to alter works of good composers, to omit parts of them, or to insert new-fashioned ornaments. This is the greatest insult you can offer to Art.

Robert Schumann
About This Quote

If you want to make money off of your art or if you are looking for easy fame, it is perfectly fine to do so. I am not saying that you should not make money off of your art; however, if you are selecting what you want to put out into the world, think about what your intentions are. If it is for money or fame, then why would you not want to include the entire work that gave you that fame? If you want a cash-cow and a quick sale, then including a verse in a well known song is a great way to achieve that. Music is a business and not an art form.
