Its height is even more impressive when you consider that it was built using cutting-edge technology. It has a steel frame based on a modular design that allowed workers to construct it at incredible speeds while using less material than traditional skyscrapers. This incredibly tall structure has done wonders for Dubai, but it has also drawn its share of criticism.

The city’s skyline is now so impressive that it’s difficult to see the rest of the city below the horizon.
