I did not choose to be a monster—a shell of a man—half-human, half-fiend. I am a tiefling. I am what I am. Tieflings are a race of outsiders from the Monster Manual, and they are quite different from the rest of the monstrous races presented.
In fact, most tieflings are not even considered to be monstrous at all. This is because tieflings are born to, and stay with, human parents. Tieflings vary greatly in their appearance, but many of their features resemble those of humans (including hair color).
The tiefling race also includes the fey tiefling subrace. The tiefling bloodline is unknown because it is unknown where the first tieflings were born; it could have been anywhere on Golarion. The tiefling's source for their powers seems to come from within themselves; however, there is some evidence that suggests that demons may also be responsible for providing some of their abilities. Although rare, some tieflings have horns or fangs instead of teeth.
Usually these horns or fangs are small and grow out of the upper jaw, but they do exist in larger forms as well. Tieflings are far more likely than other races to be raised outside the normal bounds of society by humans or non-humans (such as elves). They can live among humans without any problems, although they tend to be somewhat ostracized if their racial identity becomes obvious (for example, if their horns or fangs become visible). Tieflings may also be raised by either monster or fey parents who intend them to serve as henchmen or minions rather than raise them as kinfolk. Tieflings are natural adventurers, seeking out challenges and seeking out foes capable of challenging them for status and power in the world around them.
They enjoy proving themselves against others far more than following orders blindly or simply accepting what other people tell them to do. Often these adventurers will work alongside others who share their views on social constructs without being seen as "toured." Tieflings speak Common and Draconic.
