A thought that stayed with me was that I had entered a private place in the earth. I had seen exposed nearly its oldest part. I had lost my sense of urgency, rekindled a sense of what people were, clambering to gain access to high waterfalls and a sense of our endless struggle as a species to understand time and to estimate the consequences of our acts. About This Quote

It was a cold and rainy day when I noticed a building at the top of a hill. The building had an unusual dome-like shape that seemed to be made of ice. It was winter, so it was not surprising that it was covered with ice. That wasn't what caught my attention though.

It was how the ice was formed. It almost looked like ice that I have seen in films or pictures about the ice age. To me, it looked impossible because how could something so beautiful be created by nature?
