About This Quote

Sometimes I think I must have a Guardian Idiot, a little invisible spirit just behind my shoulder, looking out for me...only he's an idiot. There are so few idiots in the world that I have to assume all of them are working for someone else. If they are not, then there has to be someone who is making them take the wrong actions. They are there to do what I tell them to do.

But what if they don't know what I want? They’re just following along, not knowing any better. It's almost as though there's a little voice in your head that only you can hear telling you leave the back door unlocked, or that you'll never find true love if you keep searching all over the world for it. This is why people say “no one is an island.” We’re all connected somehow.

But what happens when our brains tell us to act like we’re alone?
