About This Quote

The present changes the past. Looking back you do not find what you left behind. If we were to look at the past and compare it to the present, we would find that our memories of the past are of a different version of ourselves. We would assume that we have always been who we are now, but looking back we see our past selves as separate from ourselves.

The reason for this is simple: the present is something of which we can never be too proud. We should take pride in what we have accomplished only, and not only for what we think we could have accomplished. When we live in the here and now, we lose touch with what is important and focus on what is easy and available.
