My father was a working man and my mother was a housewife.
I have four siblings and all of them were born in a hospital. The fact is that, we did not have much money to buy even basic necessities for our family. So, we started selling goods in order to survive.
We can’t complain much about our financial situation because there were much worse living conditions in the world. Our home was not much cleaner than other homes but it was much more secure from getting robbed or fire burned down by criminals. In this quote, Mandela is telling his younger generation that if they don’t know what it is like to grow up in a difficult situation then they should not judge other people for their mistakes or shortcomings when they grow up either.
