Thirty years on, femininity is still compulsory for women–and has become an option for men–while genuine femaleness remains grotesque to the point of obscenity. Meanwhile, the price of the small advances we have made towards sexual equality has been the denial of femaleness as any kind of a distinguishing character. Germaine Greer
About This Quote

The evolution and progress of women has been a slow laborious process. Over the years, there have been many changes. However, the same old social attitudes have made it difficult for women to feel as feminine as they would like to feel. In fact, womanhood has been mostly stripped to nothingness.

There is no longer a difference between male and female. Instead, there is a drastic distinction between men and women. Men are considered as the default gender and women are considered as a deviation from this norm. Almost every day I see a young man with a beautiful smile and beautiful eyes who looks like a model for a young man's magazine.

He uses words that were never meant to be spoken by men who have been raised to be strong and masculine, but rather by those who have been raised to be weak and feminine. We all know what society tells us about men who use these words: that they are gay, effeminate, or just boys trying too hard to be men. That being said, the definition of manhood has changed over the years, but not feminine manhood.

Removing femininity from being "the other" was not a good thing.
