Every time I saw Lacey, she'd gained five more pounds. She was turning into the kind of obese girl who does her hair like a forties pinup and wears bright red lipstick, a blue polka-dot dress with a white doily collar, colorful tattoos across her huge, smushed cleavage, as if these considerations would distract us from how fat and miserable she'd become. About This Quote

Lacey is a character in the novel "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. Apart from the fact that she is fat, Lacey is unhappy with her appearance. She has big breasts and loves to wear red lipstick. She also has tattoos all over her body. Her weight becomes an important part of the story when Nick is accused of killing their wife.

The reader sees Lacey’s weight as a sign that something bad is happening to Lacey. She begins to lose weight because she no longer gets any pleasure out of food. She feels absolutely miserable when she goes shopping for clothes because there are no clothes in her sizes anymore.

She even starts to exercise, but it doesn’t help her feel better about herself.
