Even for women without children, trading hours that produce income for hours that produce “only” art seems like a foolish decision. What a loss for the world, though, to have women's voices silenced because art is our last priority.

About This Quote

This quote comes from Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way. It's one of my favorite passages in her book. It reminds me that I'm not the only woman who works at home. There are many, many other women who do the same thing.

And, while it may seem like a bad deal for them, it is not. They're getting to bring their art into the world—to keep creating and producing new work that can be seen by others. What's more, they're getting to find that joy in their work through this process.

They're finding a way to create that didn't exist before they took this path.
