We ask for too much salvation by legislation. All we need to do is empower individuals with the right philosophy and the right information to opt out en masse. (quoting Joel Salatin)

About This Quote

If we can convince a majority of people that they don’t need government to protect them from the dangers of the world, then they will protect themselves. As long as a majority believe that a set of laws will save them from any and all calamities, then those laws will be enacted. And as long as those laws are enforced, those who make those laws will continue to enact those laws. In order for this to change, those who do not want to be protected from anything must believe that they can make their own way in the world without the assistance of anyone else.

In this case, Salatin was saying that we shouldn’t trust our government to care for us, but instead should trust ourselves to care for ourselves. The key is for individuals to take responsibility for their own lives and learn how to love godly living so that they may give godly examples to others.
